I pencil my comics using a mechanical .5 mm mechanical pencil. I start on a piece of 9 inch by 12 inch bristol board(I prefer smooth to vellum), and follow the script I lay out prior to the start of the month and use the chance to pencil to also lay out the page accordingly, using a ruler to fill in the gutters, as you can see.
